Students in the IE 6 and 7 class performed for the school on November 20th. They recited a short poem that they had learned and then did "the tango". They were all so excited to the "strut" around on stage, in costume.

Stone Soup
The IE 6 and 7 class has been practicing their reading skills for about 3 weeks-- predicting, using book bits, discussing, practicing vocabulary, reading, and comparing and contrasting--- with variations of the story Stone Soup. Monday they went outside to find stones for their very own soup, and then on Tuesday we read another variation-- just to get them thinking about the true meaning behind the story. Was the stone really what made the soup good? Which 2 ingredients were put into the soup, but not eaten?
Well, today they made and ate their very own stone soup! I was a little nervous about what it would taste like... as I watched them add the ingredients (a little of this and a LOT of that). However, it turned out great! We didn't have any left at the end of class-- they ate it all!!

Football Tournament
On Friday, the students at BIS rallied behind the football teams... and tried to pump them up a bit for the tournament. All of the players were challenged to blow up balloons until they POPPED. The first team to have every member complete the task were declared the winners. This proved to be a challenging, but very entertaining task!
Saturday and Sunday BIS hosted a football tournament for the teams in our federation. A few teams from Tbilisi made the trek and some local schools also participated. There was a great turn-out and a good amount of competition. All of the teams played hard and seemed to learn a bit more about themselves as players, their teams, and the game of football.
The BIS girls fought hard and came away from the tournament with a 2nd place trophy. The boys had some tough games and came away with 3rd and 4th place rankings. It was a good weekend for BIS.
